ABOUT ME
Áine Maher
I'm a Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Mental Wellbeing Consultant specialising in Neuropsychological Education for Business.
As a writer, speaker, facilitator and consultant, I draw on my professional, educational, and personal experience to connect with my audience, using neuroscience to enhance the learning experience across a range of topics
THE PILLARS OF MY APPROACH
Each project I engage with is unique, and everything I deliver is bespoke and tailored. Here are some of the starting points I discuss with my clients as we explore what journey is going to work best for them
THE NEUROSCIENCE
OF BEING
MENTALLY HEALTHY
Beginning with the individual...
You cannot give from an empty cup, and in order to build inclusive organisations we must first focus on the individual.
We are at a unique moment in history where we must build our 'New Normal'. Without education around what supports our mental wellbeing, and deepening our understanding of the 'Why' behind the behaviours promoted in our organisations, we don't have the foundation upon which to build a healthy culture where employees feel safe, and that they belong
NEURODIVERSITY, NEUROINCLUSION
&
PERSONALITY
Learning more about the human bits
We all have different brains, different preferences in behaviour, different styles of communication, and different techniques for problem-solving. These pieces all have an effect on how we approach both work and the people we work with. Having a deeper level of self-awareness, alongside building empathy around each other's "default setting" empowers greater collaborations within teams, while encouraging psychologically safe work environments where everyone can perform at their best
BIAS IN THE BRAIN:
CONSCIOUSLY ADDRESSING UNCONSCIOUS PROCESSES
Understanding the 'Why' behind behaviour
Bias is something we all have encoded within us. This simple fact is one that many grapple with, and being told it is unconscious and we have little control over it can lead us to feel frustrated, and disengaging.
Understanding Why we find learning about Diversity Equity and Inclusion difficult, and what is happening in our brains on a more granular level helps people to lean into the discomfort and be empowered to take positive steps toward continued learning.
DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION AND BELONGING
Looking at the Elements of our Identities
Understanding the different elements of our identities helps us along the journey of empathy, building cultures rich in belonging. This series begins with an understanding of diversity and inclusion as a topic, and building awareness around different diversity demographics that are meaningful to your business. There is a heavy focus on allyship and actionable learning, with resources to suit all learning styles.
YOUR CONTINUED JOURNEY
I hold a range of affiliations with specialised consultants and services depending on where you would like your journey to go. Be it a heavier focus on wellbeing and Mental Health, a deeper dive into Neuroinclusion, a focus on mitigating bias in your hiring processes or building on a culture of allyship, our work together can continue further with access to my wider network of expertise to draw upon.
